Medical assistants serve a vital role on the front lines of healthcare. The Medical Assistant program at the College of Health Care Professions can help you develop the skills needed to perform many aspects of patient care, including supporting doctors and nurses, phlebotomy, documenting patient history and vital signs, processing patient insurance and billing. Medical assistants help physician offices, group medical practices, long-term medical care facilities and many other care communities run smoothly.

Medical assistants are valuable members of healthcare teams in many different clinical settings. With a Medical Assistant Certificate from the College of Health Care Professions, you may have the opportunity to work in high-demand areas such as:

  • Pediatrics
  • Cancer Treatment
  • Gerontology

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics*, job openings for medical assistants are projected to grow 15% through 2033 – a much faster than average pace. Overall employment in healthcare occupations is projected to grow much faster than the average for all occupations from 2023 to 2033. About 2 million openings are projected each year.
