Ready to take your passion for better behavioral health and well-being to the next level? Grow your skill and understanding across mental health and addiction with an Addiction Studies and Mental Health Technician Certificate and make an even greater impact within the behavioral health field in your career.

Our certificate program offers a solid foundation in the treatment of mental health disorders, as well as the addiction lifecycle—including approaches to prevention and recovery. Students will be equipped to grasp and apply treatment modalities and therapeutic interventions within areas of mental health and substance abuse recovery in a number of clinical settings, including outpatient and inpatient, and individual and group counseling facilitation. A built-in practicum and field work component enhances course theory through applied experiences in clinical settings. Upon completion of this certificate program, students are eligible to sit for certification as a CMHT (Certified Mental Health Technician) through NCCB (National Career Certification Board) or the NCPT (Nationally Certified Psychiatric Technician) through the AAPT (American Association of Psychiatric Technicians).

As a behavioral health practitioner, you will have the opportunity to enter this career field in a number of settings, including residential mental health facilities, psychiatric hospitals, substance abuse clinics, and more. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Psychiatric Technicians and Aides can enjoy a 9 percent job growth rate from 2022 to 2032, which is considered much faster than average.
