Ophthalmic assistants provide support to ophthalmologists in the many facets of the eye health and patient care experience including: conducting initial patient evaluations and exams, assisting with in-office surgeries and procedures, as well as a number of other clinical functions and administrative duties. The CHCP Ophthalmic Assistant Certificate Program coursework Is designed to help develop your base of medical knowledge and clinical skills, in areas such as anatomy and physiology of the eye, clinical optics, surgical concepts and more.

PROGRAM LENGTH
The program is available at our Fort Worth and Houston Med Center Campus. It is 36 weeks and is delivered in a blended learning environment of in-person classroom and hands-on training and online coursework. The last 14 weeks are dedicated to externship and the full clinical experience.
