The Medical Assistant program at the College of Health Care Professions – Garland can help you develop the skills needed to perform many aspects of patient care. Medical assistants serve a vital role on the front lines of healthcare. Key duties can include supporting doctors and nurses, phlebotomy, documenting patient history and vital signs, processing patient insurance and billing. Medical assistants help physician offices, group medical practices, long-term medical care facilities and many other care communities run smoothly.
CHCP’s newly established Garland campus offers a hybrid learning model that combines online coursework with in-person clinical training, aligning with the practical skills sought by healthcare employers. Its strategic location near urgent care centers, clinics, and hospitals provides students with access to potential externship placements and employment opportunities following graduation.
Program Options
CHCP, established by physicians, provides a 36-week medical assistant program with blended learning. Students attending on-campus classes at our Garland campus can complete their training in a flexible, blended learning environment, combining online classes with one-day-per-week on-campus hands-on clinical training.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics*, job openings for medical assistants are projected to grow 15% through 2033 – a much faster than average pace. Overall employment in healthcare occupations is projected to grow much faster than the average for all occupations from 2023 to 2033. About 2 million openings are projected each year.
