Are you thinking of pursuing a career as a pharmacy technician? The College of Health Care Professions can help you take the next step toward a role as a certified pharmacy technician in a variety of settings, from hospitals to retail pharmacies.
Pharmacy technicians play a vital role directly supporting pharmacists by receiving and confirming prescription orders, assembling medicines, and informing and educating patients about their medications. A high level of organizational and client service skills is required to navigate the customer-driven front lines, as well as the behind-the-scenes operations of pharmacies.
With a pharmacy assistant certificate from the College of Health Care Professions, you can pursue a key role in an in-demand health profession such as…
- Hospital Pharmacy Technician
- Retail Pharmacy Technician
- Long-Term Care Pharmacy Technician
With a pharmacy technician assistant certificate from CHCP, you will be eligible to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam and apply for a job as an entry-level pharmacy technician. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics*, job openings for pharmacy technicians are projected to grow 6% through 2032 – a faster than average pace. Overall, employment in healthcare occupations is projected to grow 12.6% from 2021 to 2031*, much faster than the average for all occupations.
The Convenience of Attending a CHCP Campus Near You
Complete the program in as little as 36 weeks at a CHCP campus in Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston Southwest, McAllen or South San Antonio!
The Flexibility of Attending Online
For additional flexibility, CHCP’s online pharmacy technician program incorporates online instruction with the benefit of weekend hands-on clinical skill training sessions at a CHCP campus location and can be completed in as little as 48 weeks!
Completion of the Pharmacy Technician Certificate Program gives students the opportunity to take either the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCE) or the Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT) to become a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT). Passing one of these certification exams is required to apply for registration as a pharmacy technician. For pharmacy technician certification, Texas students can take either the PTCE or the ExCPT, as both are honored by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy. Once you’ve become a Certified Pharmacy Tech, you’ll be able to apply for entry-level positions in the role.
